SUNDAY 9th
Arequipa
Woke up to no electricity. The council had it turned off from 7am until 2pm.
Check out at 11am but we could come back to the hotel to have a shower before leaving at 7pm for an 8:15 pm overnight bus to Cusco.
Walk 3km with two women from Brisbane to a Geocache that was in a restaurant and bar in a residential neighbourhood where they make their own craft beer. Although I think it was more like home brew than craft beer it was very tasty.
The bar was called Chuspas. The barman was over the moon when we turned up. His English was pretty good. He took a photo of us sitting at the table having drinks and immediately put it on their Facebook page. We found the cache too :)
The brewing house had a public park across the road and three patrons were standing chewing the fat. When they had supped up they just called across to our roof top bar to order a refill. One heck of a beer garden.
On our way back we found a posh mall. Sunday afternoon and there was hardly anybody in it. Only the wealthy locals would come here I expect and there aren't many of them about.
We had a gelato each and then walked back into the town centre.
That was four hours killed. Back at the hotel we made use of the internet, had a shower and a snack while waiting to be collected to be taken to the bus station.
The bus left on time. It was even flasher than the previous ones with only three seats across instead of four. We were given a light dinner and then attempted to sleep as best we could arriving in Cusco at 06:15 am.
